Nerdy Find of the Day: Tiniest Turrets!

Redditor Pheadlessg just shared these fantastic turret cake toppers!

The wedding is themed around our shared love of books (each table at the reception is themed around a different genre) but I wanted something that reflected my passions as well – I eventually talked my fiancé into letting me have one gaming reference and we settled on these. I spent a couple of hours making them on Friday night.

Pheadlessg ordered the turrets from Think Geek, and added the decorations – the veil is silk and a pre-made flower, and the hat and bow-tie are made out of foam. They’re different! (That’s a turret joke.)

Congrats on the awesome cake toppers, and thanks for sharing! Hopefully there’s really a cake for them to go on top of.

Vendor Interview: Mountain Musings

I’m so excited to share my first Nerd-Weddings vendor review. I hope to do a lot of these posts to share information and insight on all of the fabulous nerdy vendors out there on the world wide web.

First up, the awesome Maegan of Mountain Musings on Etsy. I featured one of her gorgeous D20 kanzashi in this Geeky Goodies post, and I was lucky enough to have her answer some questions for the site! Check out her answers, plus more of her amazing work, in the rest of the post.

Geeky Goodies: Dice!

I never played Dungeons & Dragons or any other game that needed more than a standard die until I met my boyfriend. Now I’m fascinated with dice of all shapes and sizes, and I’m unnecessarily proud of my sparkly pink “princess” dice. Dice can be used in so many different ways for a wedding…click through for a list of geeky dice-themed goodies that would be awesome at any gamer’s wedding. Continue reading

Nerdy Find of the Day: Joker’s Revenge…on a cake!

This may not be the newest nerdy wedding cake to hit the net, but it’s so cool that I couldn’t not share it. City Cakes NY created this amazing wedding cake around the release of The Dark Knight Rises, and the details are awesome, from the screen-accurate joker cards on and around the cake to the painted-on Joker faces on the cake topper. This cake shows serious dedication to a theme, and I applaud the bakery and the couple who commissioned it.

Dapper DIY: Timey-Wimey TARDIS Centerpieces!

Shannon & Graham had a lot of fun elements at their wedding, but none more impressive than their handmade TARDIS centerpieces. Thankfully, Graham was willing to share a behind-the-scenes look at how he put the centerpieces together for anyone who might be interested in making their own. Be sure to check out the rest of the post for all of Graham’s insight into building a whole fleet of TARDISes (TARDIS’s? TARDISi?) and for a whole lot of cool photos of the project.

Nerdy Find of the Day: Floppy Disk Save the Dates

ImbueYouIDo on Etsy has some really unique handmade save the dates and invitations, but these floppy disks are my favorite! All of their work is gorgeous but these would be the perfect way to tell everyone that your wedding might be a little nerdier than normal. The labels are available in a variety of colors, and they offer a wide range of amounts, from 25 all the way up to 225.

If you want a different design on your labels, it looks like ImbueYouIDo offers a lot of customization options, and these could probably also by DIY-ed fairly easily if you’re good with typography and spray adhesive. Quick, find that old box full of floppys!
