Shannon & Graham had a lot of fun elements at their wedding, but none more impressive than their handmade TARDIS centerpieces. Thankfully, Graham was willing to share a behind-the-scenes look at how he put the centerpieces together for anyone who might be interested in making their own. Be sure to check out the rest of the post for all of Graham’s insight into building a whole fleet of TARDISes (TARDIS’s? TARDISi?) and for a whole lot of cool photos of the project.
ImbueYouIDo on Etsy has some really unique handmade save the dates and invitations, but these floppy disks are my favorite! All of their work is gorgeous but these would be the perfect way to tell everyone that your wedding might be a little nerdier than normal. The labels are available in a variety of colors, and they offer a wide range of amounts, from 25 all the way up to 225.
If you want a different design on your labels, it looks like ImbueYouIDo offers a lot of customization options, and these could probably also by DIY-ed fairly easily if you’re good with typography and spray adhesive. Quick, find that old box full of floppys!
Lydia Tayler, a 26 year old British bride, knit her own wedding dress – and it’s completely gorgeous! I know plenty of folks who think knitting is nerdy, or something only grandmas and characters played by Zooey Deschanel do, and the dress is stunning, so I had to share it.
What a fantastic idea for a shoot – engagement or anniverary or really any reason to take photos. Heck, you could even do a comic book cocvered wall as a photobooth backdrop at your wedding. Click through for more gorgeously colorful photos and the story behind the shoot. Continue reading
Shannon & Graham’s wedding was sent to me by their awesome photographers over Reddit – sometimes I’m really glad I spend so much time on that site! Not only did they use an incredibly cool venue, but there were all sorts of amazingly personal nerdy touches throughout the wedding. The coolest thing, though, was their homemade, customized TARDIS centerpieces…complete with light-up action! Ben & Mimi’s wedding (captured by Jagger Photography) had a ton of DIY elements, but the coolest by far were the boutonnieres – Mimi asked the groomsmen who their favorite superheros were, and found action figures to replace their boutonnieres!
